  • The Perception of a Bad Day

Jack’s eyes were becoming blurry as he raced down the highway on his way to nowhere in particular. Blurry with tears – tears of hatred, remorse, and betrayal. He had to get away, get away from the illusion of life. He was fleeing the false reality of happiness, love, peace, and everything else that was supposed to make life worth living – lies – tears – so many tears.

He swerved towards the guardrail at the side of the road, but in a quick change of heart… cowardice? He managed to maneuver the car back onto the highway. He was sweating now, and the thought of death was running through his mind at a million miles a second. Did he want to die?

The thought of death quickly turned into fear, and Jack pulled the car over. He sat there for a minute trying to gather his thoughts… happiness – lies… love – pain… peace – fallacy…

Could life really be this cruel, or was perception his crime?
